Agua Caliente Band closes poker room, makes lay-offs at casino

Wednesday, December 1, 2010
Filed Under: California | Openings and Closings

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of California closed down the poker room at one of its casino and made an unspecified number of layoffs.

No reason was given for the closure but the tribe plans to convert the room at the Spa Resort Casino into a non-smoking slot machine section. The poker room at the tribe's other facility, Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa, will remain open.

In October, the tribe cut two percent of its workforce.
